This webinar will introduce a new Lyrasis partnership with The Fashion and Race Database (FRD)! We will discuss the history of the platform and resource, how Lyrasis came to partner with FRD, and how institutions can get involved with this unique and multidisciplinary resource. The Fashion and Race Database is the first and most trusted education platform that repairs misrepresentation in fashion and reveals how the construct of race has shaped aesthetics, design, worldviews and industry practices. They also provide lessons and programming that deepen how we understand fashion, creating a roadmap for lasting change in the fashion system.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this class, students will be able to:

  • Describe the history of the Fashion and Race Database, where it got its start, and where the platform stands today as a multidisciplinary academic resource at the intersection of race, culture, and fashion history.
  • Demonstrate basic navigation of the platform and the resource offerings therein.
  • Discuss this new and exclusive subscription opportunity with their institutions, libraries, and user communities.
